Born and raised in Texas, Mary attended Petrolia High School where she was on the basketball and track teams. She graduated from Midwestern State University, majoring in Accounting. She worked as accountant for many years before deciding to leave the corporate world and take up residence in Key West, FL. She likes playing golf, "hanging out" with friends and watching the sun set almost every day in sunny Florida. She also likes to travel and has visited many places but says that "living in Key West and running a bar is like being on vacation all the time".

Mary describes herself as usually being very laid back, but when put in a competitive situation she can keep up with the best of them.
